How to Configure Portfolio Reporting

Before being able to view working data on your portfolios, you will need to properly set up your portfolio configuration settings. To do so, select the Settings tab, and select Portfolio Configuration from the drop down menu.

Here, you will either add or choose an existing portfolio and then define that portfolio’s basic settings, conditional formatting, and unlinked defects mapping. For this example, we are editing an existing portfolio, but the steps are the same for adding a brand new portfolio. If adding a new portfolio, select the Add icon before following these steps.

Enter the portfolio name, Artifact type, and the site and date fields you wish to apply. Remember you must apply the site field to your artifacts that you wish to use within the portfolio report.

Conditional formatting: Here, You can create Conditional Formatting for an individual Portfolio Report that defines criteria for selected Test Runs and Defect Status data. You will create a rule, using a conditional expression, to define the data results with the selected color within the Portfolio Overview table and Portfolio Details table.

Select the Add In the newly displayed dialog, select the fields which you wish to use to build your conditional expressions. For this example, I want to build conditional expressions based on number of test runs blocked, the percentage of test runs blocked, and the number of test runs closed. Once you select your fields, select OK.

The conditional formatting dialog displays. Here, you will select a threshold color and build your conditional expression. Your threshold color is the color that will be used to highlight Test runs, in portfolio overview, that meet the conditional expression based rule that you are about to build. Simply select the color box and choose which color you would like to use or enter the appropriate color code.

Now, moving on to building your conditional expression. First, notice the status fields at the bottom of the dialog. These are the same fields that you recently selected as the building blocks for your expression. Also, notice that they each are represented by a capital letter. I want to build an expression that defines the rule: if the number of Test runs blocked is greater than the number of test runs closed, then these instances will be highlighted blue in my portfolio overview. So, I type A > C and select Update.

Notice that your new conditional expression shows up in the conditional formatting section. To edit an already existing conditional formatting, select the pencil icon next to the rule and repeat the same steps as before and select update.

Unlinked Jira Defects Mapping is available in Portfolio Reporting for projects with a Jira integration and allows you to incorporate unlinked defects from Jira to your portfolio reports. Here you will map Jira defects to a qTest project(s) Release/Test Suite artifact so that they can be reportable in Insights. Simply select Add and then select your project and appropriate Jira field.
