Gartner’s latest test automation research—“Critical Capabilities for Software Test Automation”—was just released. While the “Magic Quadrant for Software Test Automation” evaluates the major vendors used to accelerate and scale functional test automation, “Critical Capabilities for Software Test Automation” focuses on how the test automation tools themselves compare on the 14 critical capabilities that Gartner selected as the most critical points of comparison.

By replacing the narrower “Packaged Applications” use case from the 2017 report with what we see as the new, more extensive “Enterprise  End-to-End Testing” use case, we believe Gartner is recognizing the increasing scope and complexity of enterprise testing.  Moreover, we believe Gartner is advocating that end-to-end test automation is essential for everyone. It’s not just the domain of unicorns with simple, cloud-native application stacks, but also vital for enterprise organizations where a single end-to-end transaction may involve technologies ranging from SAP and other packaged applications, to APIs, to web and mobile UIs.

We’re proud to report that Tricentis received the highest score within the “Enterprise End-to-End Testing” use case for software test automation. We credit receiving the highest score in this report to two key factors:

  • Tricentis Tosca’s advanced test automation places enterprises on the fast track to transforming testing for DevOps.
  • Tricentis, in concert with our valued partner network, offer proven methodologies for achieving sustainable success with test automation and Continuous Testing.

With growing pressure to automate and accelerate testing for DevOps, organizations are fast recognizing that the manual testing and legacy testing platforms of the past are holding them back.  We are honored to be the Continuous Testing solution of choice for the enterprises leading their industries into the digital future.

Since this report places a strong emphasis on new test automation capabilities released in the past year, we thought we’d close with a recap of our latest innovations related to enterprise end-to-end testing:
