How Experian modernized a legacy test suite for advanced automation
Experian is a global leader in consumer and business credit reporting and marketing services and a constituent of the United Kingdom’s FTSE 100 index, with total revenue for the year ended March 31, 2016, of US$4.6 billion. They support clients in more than 80 countries and employ approximately 17,000 people in 37 countries. To remain an industry leader, Experian was tasked with migrating an automated regression test suite that was built years ago, required a lot of maintenance and manual intervention, and was not stable at all.
Join Braulio Obando from Experian as he shares their migration experience, strategies and lessons learned. He will address both technical challenges (number of test cases migrated, team involved during development, timeframe and phases for migration, dynamic data handling) and non-technical challenges (data management, technical resources, becoming agile, Continuous Testing, maturity, etc.).
“Testing, deep and shallow” from testing leader Michael Bolton
We’re honored to welcome Michael Bolton, a consulting software tester and testing teacher, to the virtual stage at Accelerate. In this talk, he’ll guide us through how to think about testing depth. We’re not simply thinking about structural depth unit testing, sub-system testing, system testing, or end-to-end testing. Instead, we’re talking about the thoroughness of testing — and the capacity of testing to find elusive bugs that matter.
According to Bolton, one of the most fundamental questions you can ask about testing is “Did I test that?” But there isn’t a binary answer to that question. We know when we haven’t tested at all, but there is no such thing as infinite testing. We test in different ways, at different times, in different situations, for different reasons. Tune into this session to learn why responsible testers must be able to reason about and assess the relative depth of their testing.
How Guardian modernized QA, replaced legacy toolsets and successfully implemented qTest
Join this session to learn how Guardian Insurance, a 150+ year old company, transformed their IT QA process leveraging qTest as the central testing tool. Guardian was heavily invested in the HP ALM suite, but as the company moved forward with a significant digital transformation, the IT QA team needed to move to a nimble tool that would support a geographically diverse testing team and an agile operating model.
Join this session to hear how Guardian successfully transformed testing, from planning, implementation and measurements to change management. You will leave with a clear understanding of Guardian’s transformation process and playbook for consideration in your own transformation journey.
Inside Nationwide’s testing transformation
Over the last 90 years, Nationwide has grown from a small mutual auto insurer owned by policyholders to one of the largest insurance and financial services companies in the world. The biggest challenge facing one of the largest diversified insurance and financial services organizations in the U.S. was how do you transform testing at scale at such a large enterprise? Join Nibs Mishra & Tina Oelschlager of Nationwide to learn how they accelerated delivery while reducing costs by evolving their manual testing process into automated Continuous Testing across 200 agile teams and 2,500 applications.

They also boast one of the largest SAP environments in healthcare. Join this session to learn how McKesson’s testing team is developing a unified test automation strategy that spans a diverse toolset to accommodate testing complex, end-to-end processes across mainframe, on-premise environments and the cloud.
