Partner spotlight series: How Infometis simplifies Avaloq testing with a custom Tosca accelerator
Discover how Infometis helps banks scale Avaloq test automation with Tosca and its TACC accelerator.

Banking and wealth management firms operate some of the most complex and risk-sensitive technology environments in financial services. Critical processes spanning client onboarding, accounts, payments, investments, and portfolio management must work reliably across core platforms, digital channels, APIs, and third-party services.
Infometis, a Swiss quality engineering consultancy and long-standing Tricentis partner, helps organizations manage this complexity across the software lifecycle. They support customers along the entire path to digital business processes by identifying quality risks, designing sustainable automation strategies, and applying Tricentis technologies to customers’ application landscape.
Through its work with financial institutions, Infometis identified a recurring challenge in Avaloq test automation. Banks wanted to automate critical processes, but preparing a large, institution-specific Avaloq environment required considerable time and effort.
In response, Infometis developed Tosca Avaloq Custom Control (TACC), a custom accelerator that automates the generation of Avaloq-specific Tosca Modules and packages the control-recognition logic required for Smart Client automation. By combining Infometis’ Avaloq expertise with Tosca’s model-based approach, TACC helps financial institutions move faster from application modeling to maintainable, risk-based Avaloq test automation.
How TACC accelerates Avaloq test automation
TACC accelerates Avaloq test automation through two complementary capabilities: automated Tosca Module generation and control recognition for the Avaloq Smart Client.
Together, they make it easier to model a bank’s configured Avaloq landscape in Tosca and allow teams to move sooner into regression test design and business-process validation.
Automated Tosca Module generation
In Tosca, application screens and controls are represented as reusable modules. Test engineers combine these modules to automate business processes that span multiple screens, applications, and technologies.
Building the initial application model typically involves scanning screens, selecting the controls required for testing, saving each module, and confirming that the controls can be identified reliably. The TACC module generator uses information from the bank’s configured Avaloq environment to create the corresponding test conditions as Tosca modules.
According to Infometis, preparing a large screen manually can take five to ten minutes. With TACC, individual screens can be processed in seconds, and a Module library can be generated in approximately 2-4 hours, depending on the environment, scope, and configuration of the Avaloq implementation.
This gives test automation teams a faster, more consistent starting point. Engineers can direct more effort toward regression coverage, end-to-end banking scenarios, and the processes that carry the greatest operational risk.
Control recognition for Avaloq Smart Client automation
The Avaloq Smart Client is a .NET Windows desktop application that uses its own control framework. Infometis used Tosca’s custom-control extensibility to make these controls easier to identify and automate.
TACC packages the recognition and interaction logic for the Avaloq Smart Client, allowing engineers to model its controls and use them in Tosca test cases. This makes it easier to identify controls manually and to read and maintain Avaloq test automation.
The technologies have complementary roles:
- Tricentis Tosca provides the enterprise foundation for model-based test design, automation, reuse, and cross-technology coverage.
- TACC adds pre-engineered Avaloq control recognition and automated Tosca Module generation.
- TACC does not introduce a separate automation framework alongside Tosca. It packages Infometis’ application-specific knowledge within the Tosca environment, helping banks and wealth managers apply Tosca faster and more consistently to their configured Avaloq landscapes.
The result is a scalable foundation for Avaloq test automation that can also connect with the APIs, digital channels, and downstream systems involved in end-to-end banking processes.

Turning technical innovation into business value
A global bank was using Tosca to support regression testing across its Avaloq and eBanking landscape. It had automated approximately 2,400 end-to-end Avaloq test cases, supported by around 6,300 Tosca XModules created and used with TACC. Its release calendar includes two major and two minor releases each year. For each release, most of the automated test cases run across two test environments.
This results in approximately 19,200 test case executions annually.
At this scale, the value of TACC extends beyond accelerating the initial creation of Tosca modules. Its reusable Avaloq recognition layer and generated XModules provide a consistent automation foundation across a large regression portfolio. This helps the bank repeatedly validate end-to-end processes while reducing the need to model and maintain specialized Smart Client controls independently.
“Avaloq test automation has traditionally demanded significant manual effort just to get started. Our partnership with Tricentis changes that equation: by combining Tosca’s model-based automation platform with Infometis’ deep Avaloq engineering expertise, we help banks move from months of manual test preparation to a scalable, maintainable automation foundation in a fraction of the time. For our customers, that means more capacity to focus on the end-to-end processes and risks that matter most.”

A scalable approach to Avaloq test automation
For financial institutions, the decision to automate Avaloq testing is ultimately about how to increase regression coverage, manage release risk, and maintain confidence in business-critical processes as the technology landscape changes.
Tosca provides the model-based, cross-technology automation foundation required to test processes spanning Avaloq, eBanking, APIs, digital channels, and downstream systems. TACC builds on that foundation with Infometis’ Avaloq control recognition and automated module generation.
Together, these capabilities reduce repeated application modeling work and support a consistent regression portfolio across releases and environments. Test teams can focus more of their expertise on end-to-end scenarios and the processes that present the greatest operational and customer risk.
The approach reflects the complementary strengths of the Tricentis and Infometis partnership: an enterprise automation platform from Tricentis, combined with Avaloq engineering expertise developed through banking implementations. For financial institutions, that provides a maintainable foundation for scaling Avaloq test automation across the wider technology landscape.
