Preview NEO, Tricentis’ AI-powered test automation engine, in the Tosca 13.4 release

With today’s release of Tosca 13.4, Tricentis customers can access a public preview of Project NEO, Tricentis’ AI-powered test automation engine. With Project NEO, Tricentis introduces the next generation of test automation technology: an AI test execution engine that enables you to automate UI test cases based on a mockup – before any code is written – so you can test much earlier in the development lifecycle.

AI-powered test automation: Testing at the speed of sight

If you have struggled to scale test automation because of high-maintenance, fragile scripts, or because extending test automation to new applications requires you to understand each one’s underlying technology, you are not alone. Understanding the underlying technology is critical – this technical understanding serves as the glue between the business requirements and their execution in the user interface. Addressing today’s top testing challenges

Our goal with Project NEO is to break the barriers to resilient, scalable test automation for any technology. After speaking with countless testing teams and analyzing market needs, we found the following four areas to be of highest concern: 

Application modernization is critical to digital transformation, but creates testing challenges: With modernization comes moving from legacy to cutting-edge technologies. Currently, test automation solutions may not be available for both legacy and modern technologies, or they may require heavy customization and refactoring in order to use. Also, solutions that work for one technology oftentimes do not work for another, leaving teams with only two options: spend too much money acquiring a complex set of tooling or rely on manual testing that will only slow down modernization efforts.  

Teams need automation that works for virtual and remote applications: Whether due to regulation or other concerns, many teams rely on virtual or remote applications (i.e. Citrix, VMware, etc.). However, traditional test automation solutions do not work for remote or virtual applications, resulting in a reliance on manual testing.
