New Forrester report reveals a 403% ROI for Tricentis SAP quality assurance solutions
A new Forrester report reveals how Tricentis SAP quality assurance solutions deliver 403% ROI, reduce testing scope by 84%, cut release times by 83%, and slash hypercare costs — all while accelerating S/4HANA transformation.

Modern SAP customers often face competing demands. While navigating the routine complexities of an SAP system, they must also prepare for faster releases and looming S/4HANA deadlines, juggling the day-to-day with long-term innovation.
Intelligent quality assurance helps SAP users balance these priorities. A new Forrester Consulting report showed a 403% ROI for Tricentis SAP quality assurance solutions, proving that – for many customers – faster, better QA is the foundation for safe SAP modernization.
The report breakdown
The report, “The Total Economic Impact of SAP Enterprise Application Quality Assurance Solutions by Tricentis,” quantified the tools’ benefits and ROI based on interviews with Tricentis customers. Prior to using Tricentis, interviewees relied on manual testing practices and fragmented testing tools that delayed transformation timelines. After implementing Tricentis, Forrester aggregated customers’ experiences and saw marked improvements in release quality, timelines, and costs, including:
- An 83% reduction in time-to-release
- A 500% increase in application release rate
- A 99% reduction in performance testing cycle times
- A 45% reduction in hypercare costs
- Improved risk coverage with 84% fewer tests
- A less than 6-month payback on Tricentis investments
The report highlights how Tricentis SAP solutions – both individually and together – improved testing throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Tricentis LiveCompare (available on SolEx as SAP Change Impact Analysis (CIA)) helped interviewees pinpoint which software changes posed the greatest risk. Rather than blindly running tests, users could use change intelligence to narrow their execution to what mattered most, significantly reducing the number of test cases required for each release. This led to more focused test scope, shorter testing timelines, reduced maintenance, and reduced testing costs.
With Tricentis Tosca (available on SolEx as SAP Enterprise Continuous Testing), users significantly improved their automated test coverage, improving defect detection and freeing skilled developers to shift from writing and maintaining a large volume of test scripts to more valuable tasks. When used in combination with CIA, ECT customers could run automated test cases based on risk, identify gaps in coverage, and rapidly build resilient automation that addressed those gaps. This reassured them that they could successfully accelerate releases using automation without increasing the risk of defects or production errors.
“Application testing used to be like gambling, making assumptions that coverage is good enough,” one customer said. “Now, it’s more like relying on science.”
By automating performance tests with Tricentis NeoLoad (or SAP Enterprise Performance Testing on SolEx), customers saved hypercare costs and significantly reduced the effort required for executing performance testing. As a result, they were able to run performance tests far more frequently – with some organizations increasing from quarterly to weekly or biweekly runs – and maintain a much higher level of confidence in their SAP systems’ reliability.
The business value of SAP-specific test automation
Unlike the disparate testing tools customers previously relied on, the report highlights that the Tricentis SAP toolset is purpose-built for complex, integrated SAP environments and fit to handle SAP-specific challenges like S/4HANA migrations. This shift enabled SAP customers to transform testing from a bottleneck into a strategic enabler of business success.
One customer used LiveCompare to eliminate unnecessary tests to make the transition to S/4HANA easier. With LiveCompare, they knew exactly what functionality the migration put at risk – and which test cases to run to keep those risks to a minimum.
Others realized significant business benefits associated with increased agility, as more frequent releases meant new features could rapidly become available to the entire business. “Faster releases have allowed us to respond more quickly to market shifts and regulatory changes,” one organization reported. Another customer attributed increased sales and business growth to an improved quality strategy.
Others experienced the benefits of Tricentis’ AI solutions like Vision AI and self-healing test automation for improved maintenance – allowing them to focus more time on rapidly getting new features to market and less on keeping existing automation up to date. Overall, Forrester reported that QA was made safer, faster, and smarter, with customers seeing greater value in their SAP investments.
