When EdgeVerve rolled out a major Scaled Agile (SAFe) initiative for their core banking solution Finacle, it became painfully evident that something had to be done about testing. Although development speeds accelerated by 50-66%, developers were waiting up to 6 months for quality feedback, while defects were regularly being discovered days before releases.
A major transformation was needed. The QA leaders at EdgeVerve resolved to overhaul their entire testing process: testing earlier and faster, with tests which would not require maintenance each time the application changed. They also wanted to build trust between testers and developers, so that they could work in partnership to accelerate time to market.
