It’s no secret that legacy test management tools often struggle to keep pace with today’s delivery expectations. Tricentis Partner SQALogic frequently sees the growing pressure on legacy enterprises to modernize and digitally transform. However, on the path to transformation enterprises face legacy challenges from fragmented tools and processes, a lack of visibility across teams, and manual testing bottlenecks often leading to difficulties scaling across geographies and business units.

The friction is not always loud — sometimes it’s a quiet accumulation of inefficiencies, duplicated effort, and decision-making without clarity. However, the indicators are clear when an organization starts compensating with spreadsheets, tribal knowledge, or disconnected systems that they’ve outgrown their current approach to test management.

A partnership transforming enterprise test management

Since 2018, SQALogic has been a Tricentis Partner, helping clients realize the full value of the Tricentis portfolio with test management solutions that can scale with their business, unify siloed practices, and enable faster release cycles. SQALogic uses Tricentis qTest to support its clients’ goals. qTest enables traceability from requirements to results, real-time collaboration, and streamlined governance, shifting QA from a reactive, report-driven function to a proactive, insight-driven capability.

Modern test management is a critical component of a successful digital transformation because it delivers the automation, integration, and visibility necessary to overcome the challenges of legacy tools and processes. SQALogic’s expertise helps organizations with a test management strategy that accounts for both standardization and flexibility as an enterprise grows more complex across product lines, teams, regions, and compliance requirements. The test management architectures balance central governance with local autonomy, including role clarity, reusable frameworks, consistent taxonomy, and platform integrations that evolve with delivery pipelines.

Using its maturity scan tool, SQALogic identifies potential bottlenecks and blind spots early before they become enterprise-level issues. The maturity scan gives leadership an honest reflection of where the cracks are forming, whether due to tooling, process, or enablement gaps. It’s diagnostic, not prescriptive — because every organization’s journey is different.

How SQALogic helped a leading energy company migrate from ALM to qTest

SQALogic’s client, a multinational pipeline and energy company, was looking to implement a testing automation solution that would help to improve quality by reducing manual testing efforts, minimizing the time required for test execution, and mitigating the risk of system failures.

The critical strategic initiative involved modernizing the energy company’s quality assurance landscape by migrating from Micro Focus ALM, a platform it had relied on for over 15 years, to Tricentis qTest. This transition was not only essential to adopting modern, scalable test automation practices but also served to eliminate its dependence on an outdated infrastructure and avoid millions of dollars in future license renewal costs.

The company’s environment was extremely complex and growing with a landscape of over 221 projects. SQALogic helped its client determine what to archive and what to migrate to the new qTest environment to ensure maximum value.

It was originally estimated that the migration would take upwards of nine months, but SQALogic delivered the complete migration in under three months, without compromising data integrity, business continuity, or project scope. The earlier timing was significant since the energy company would have been forced to renew its ALM licenses if the migration took more than three months, preventing a potential financial impact in the millions.

SQALogic’s custom scripts and fallback processes are now reusable assets for future migrations, enabling faster, more reliable transitions. The energy company’s project stands as a testament to how technical expertise, strategic communication, and Agile innovation can significantly accelerate digital transformation.

Scaling future success for partner, client, and Tricentis

SQALogic played a pivotal role in enabling future business opportunities, not only for the energy company client but also for Tricentis. By delivering the project in less than half the originally estimated timeframe, SQALogic effectively eliminated two of the most common objections faced in large-scale tool migrations: time and risk.

The achievement has become a compelling proof point for both SQALogic and Tricentis in future engagements. It now serves as a reference model, demonstrating that even the most complex legacy transitions can be completed efficiently and safely when the right expertise, methodology, and tools are applied.

With this proven track record of delivering modern test management, SQALogic is well prepared to help enterprises embrace the next major shift in software testing: AI-driven testing. As AI-augmented testing continues to redefine what is possible from generating test cases to identifying coverage gaps — enterprises are realizing AI’s potential to shorten test execution timelines, increase quality, and create a faster path to release. Agentic test automation is further enabling more efficient test management with the ability to test large volumes of AI-generated code at speed with traceability and visibility.

Modern, scalable test management is not a quick win. It’s a long game and the organizations that succeed are the ones who see it as a strategic capability, not a checkbox. As a trusted quality partner of Tricentis, SQALogic is helping organizations transform quality from a cost center into a strategic enabler of speed, agility, and innovation.
