Getting started with Tricentis’ test manager tool – qTest Manager.
Welcome to qTest Platform! This brief overview video will help you get started with qTest Manager, qTest Explorer, and qTest Insights.
Creating a New Projects and Users
First, let’s create a new project by clicking the “Add new project” button on the right. You can name your project, define the start and end dates, assign the project administrator to lead the project. Next, let’s invite your teammates into qTest. In the licenses and users area tab, then click “Invite” button. Then, Simply enter the the emails of your teammates for them to will receive an invitation. Now let’s walk through a sample project to understand all the different feature tabs in qTest.
Creating a Test Plan
In the test plan tab you can schedule the time frame for your testing and add any requirements to the release scope. These requirements are imported or created within the Requirements tab. Once defined, testers can create new test cases and link existing test cases to each requirement for complete test coverage.
Creating a Test Cases
In the Test Design tab, you can create and manage your repository of test case templates. This is where testers will add descriptions, preconditions, test steps, and linkages to requirements. Once Test cases and Requirements have been added, we can move to the Test Execution tab where testers can start organizing which test runs will be executed.
Creating a Test Runs for Executions
Here testers can group their test runs into cycles and test suites to easily organize their executions. Click add test runs to pull in tests scripts from their test case repositories and previously organized test runs. Once added, you select your runs and execute through the quick feature or through the test pad. As testers log defects during their test execution, they are managed in the defects tab. Here you can monitor the status of defects and track what has been resolved and what is still open.
The qTest Explorer and Sessions contains all recorded test session data from qTest Explorer. qTest Explorer is a separate application that you can download in the resources section that facilitates, traditional, exploratory, end user, and session based testing.
After you download and install qTest Explorer, you will be able to easily capture all screens, keystrokes, and data inputs during the testing session. This allows for rapid test case creation and defect reporting while eliminating the need for tedious manual documentation.
With qTest Insights, you can get real-time, executive level reporting across all testing activities.
