Continuous Testing with Tricentis qTest Pulse

Last week Ryan Yackel, Director of Product Marketing, and Fredrick Porter, Senior Product Manager, provided us with an overview of Tricentis’ latest product release Tricentis qTest Pulse, including a live demo and Q&A. qTest Pulse is an advanced rules engine that helps agile teams communicate faster and collaborate more across all Tricentis qTest products by automating tool communication within a DevOps pipeline.

qTest Pulse was developed to make the tester a critical piece of the continuous delivery pipeline, and to ensure that their feedback is represented at every step to delivery. Sometimes testers communicate a defect description correctly, but it still takes too long to get the defect resolved. While developers might orchestrate an automated build job, they may not have communicated the results to everyone involved with product, dev and QA, causing unnecessary delays.

qTest Pulse prevents communication breakdowns by automating updates across agile teams. With qTest Pulse, users can set custom rules that trigger updates across Jenkins, Slack, qTest Manager and Jira to remove bottlenecks and keep projects on schedule.

The three main areas Ryan and Fredrick covered included:

  • How to manage and execute continuous testing activities in parallel with Jira issues and sprints
  • How to streamline the DevOps pipeline by directly connecting all testing activity, both manual and automated, into the CI build process run by tools such as Jenkins or CircleCI
  • How to facilitate better and faster communication between developers and testers via event-driven notifications and integrations across ALM, version control and CI systems
